Don't know about the slips, but in the late 60's early 70's I remember staring open mouthed into the back of Old Man Lambro's surplus jeep at maybe a dozen 30-40 #ers. I know that doesn't add to half ton, but OMG what a night he had. Just about this time of year,too.
