The old 704 is built like a tank. There is not much that can go wrong with the reel other than bail springs.
sence the reel was discontinued some 25 years ago and replaced by the 704Z they are in short supply. Most of the parts are interchangable. you might be able to find some on ebay.

Good luck on your search if it's the reel you want.

My self I would choose a reel with more bearings and a oversized lineroller and a "SILENT "Infinite Anti-Reverse.
The old clicking of the 704 series drove me crazzy
The oversized roller will stop as mush as 30% of your line twist
Infinite Anti-Reverse no wobble or backlash in the rotor.

I have a brand new 701 in the box and when my addition is done it's going up on the beams with the other collectiables.
the way is't going it could be a while
