I just about landed one 4 years ago on my 1088 sabre and a nautil 6500 with 14 lb fireline. but it was a harbor seal not a huge horsehead seal. Once I saw the thing come up for air, I opened the bail and let it have slack to dislodge the plug from it's face. T.S. landed one I think.

How are you gonna get close enough to it to cut the leader, you'd be nuts to get that close. They'll bite ya whole dam arm off if they want to.
