Lurch, I think you must have missed the "stood 3 friggin' feet from me" part of it. It is poor surfcasting etiquette to crowd somebody like that, and while he is standing on it, it is "his" rock. As far as getting the cold shoudler, that is generally the way it is, you should get thicker skin. Some people are grumpy and some are not. You cant expect everybody to answer the same way. The best you can expect is a grunt and a nod. If you get more, you're lucky.
