I can remember standing at Quonny one night and you asked me with living 1-1/2 hours away from RI how often I got to fish. When I said 1 or 2 nights a week you said that would make you crazy and didn't see how you could ever be married with kids. Well, the next year you were married and the rest is history. At that time my daughters were about 2 and 4 years old and I cherished those 1 or 2 nights I got to fish and probably enjoyed fishing more then than I do now. Those couple of trips a week were my time to relax and I thought about my next trip 5 minutes after I left the Quonny parking lot, I just couldn't wait to get back.

My kids are now 9 and 11 and I can fish far more often if I choose but somehow I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I did. Be it the fact that I can go whenever I want or that it is more fun when your trying to get your first 36" fish then your first 20lb fish, 30lb fish and so on, it was just more fun.

I just got in from my first trip of the season on the CT River. It was a great morning, cold with fog rising off the water. I took two fish one 30" and one 32" lost two others. But I have to coach my daughters softball team tonight then we have the Little League parade tomorrow and so on. Maybe I'll fish Sunday night, maybe Monday morning, the fish will always be there..........
