I found this about the Weweantic river interesting.
The new owner of the Horseshoe dam is my friend Watie Akins; Grandson of the late Mr. Robbins .His family owns a trout hatchery up stream from the dam. I don’t want to beat a dead horse about spot burning. Due to articles in OTW the past 2 yeast telling everyone to fish this area during the spring. Which happens to be spawn of smelt & sea run trout. The area has been over run with fisherman wadding in the river & stepping on all the smelt eggs. He has made up his mind to post the property.
I hate to see areas close but he owns it and it is his right
