My best night was in Early October. I went to one of my old haunts a few weeks before and caught a nice 34'' bass. I told my friend who had caught about 500 schoolies this year but no keepers to meet me at the spot cause I had a good feeling I could put him on some decent fish.
Well i get there and he is no where to be found. I had him pick up the eels so I was eel less and by myself for the first hour. Well I imediatly started catching bass on my trusty yellow broken back rebel, all small fish. My friend finally shows up as the tide was dead low. We move to my favorite rock and rig up the eels. After five minutes he hooks up with a good sized fish. I coach him through the whole thing and help him land a nice 38'' bass. He is real pumped, by far his biggest bass ever. Not 2 minutes later I get a hit and lay into a nice fish. My reel is screaming and I think I may have my first 30# fish. Well I may have milked the moment a little to much, I land it and its a 37" bass. Needless to say I was still happy but felt a little foolish taking 15 minutes to land a 17 lb fish.
After that the heavens opened up and we fished in a constant downpour. We caught several more bass all 30" plus. It wasn't my most successful night of the year but seeing my buddy fighting that fish was awesome!!
