if your using a tankless compressor you don't need a trap.
if you double the length of the hose it will act like a small tank and hold a little more reserve air. if not, when you spray your using all the air as fast as it can come out of the comp. so every stroke of the piston is brought to the airbrush and you get little pulses.

if your gunna use the thing all the time. go with the bottles. you can keep the paints at the ready.
just one or two plugs at a time i'd go with a top loader and a tankless.
