The current "On the Water" magazine has an article on wire line trolling, and I think it mentions types of gear needed too, but I only skimmed it.
Carbide guides are the ones that can handle wire. However my buddy ops to buy cheapo boat rods w/penn jigmaster reels as his wire line set ups and they're 2yrs old now.
