OTW
The Phantom Beach article was very interesting, and a nice way to respond to all the "spot burning" critisisms that arose out of McKenna's article. I haven't read the Gag's piece yet but will get to that next.
OTW walks a fine line between informing fishermen and "over" informing them. This article shows that OTW can still be an informative and entertaining publication without putting out a "stand here and cast there" sign.
Pubs such as OTW help bring more fishermen into the sport by educating and encouraging them. However, a lot of people have the attitude that the more fishermen there are out there, the worse it gets (crowded beaches, crowded boat ramps, etc.), and there is truth to that. But in this day and age of threatened MPAs, increased regulations, the prospect of saltwater fishing licenses and so on, the more people who feel vested in recreational fishing, the more political power we have.
My hat is off to the publisher, editor, and contributors for a job well done here.
