.. he was a pissah... He came in the store one day, and one of our regulars, who was active in Republican politics, (remember when the cape was a republican stronghold?, yet they backed Sarge.. the "local" thing
), greated him, "Sarge... the best Republican Governor, the Democrats ever put in office!"... Sarge got a helluva chuckle outta that... another time, one of my co-workers greeted him with, "Hi Sarge, gee, your looking Great!".. he paused, and said... "Hell, I've made guys judges for saying less!"... he was well out of office by then
... he loved his hunting and fishing, for sure.
