I had that too. In my case it happened after years of casting 11-1/2' glass spinning rods with the reel taped high on the butt. It lasted over a year. I saw both orthopedists and a chiro. The chiro made it worse
Compression bands helped make it bearable to fish, icing it afterwards helped, but nothing cured it entirely except resting it completely for a few months.
