i took all my blocks out on my 6500 c3ct and 7200/level wind.. add good bearings ,ceramic/apec, light oil , now the reel is so fast its unmanageble.. no matter how good your thumb is. Now you need mags to finely tune the speed.. When you get it dialed in you can take your thumb right off the spool ,, no feathering.,, just stop it at the end. All this came from tournament casting,, Thats why I said talk to Big Dave, Christain ... My 7200 is a level wind ,, sounds crazy juicing up a level wind but it cast very well, and the one mag I have in it is a blessing at night .. Although most fishing has gone to spinning tackle and braid/fireline or iron silk ..Not to long ago, most my life I fished conventional because I was casting heavy lines in rocks.. ya can't cast heavy mono with spinning tackle .. Still can't beat this set up there IMHO,, the other stuff is just toys to me ..seeing Big Dave and Stan Kusia cast is one of the most impressive things I ever seen . Stan is so smooth and technical he cast great distances with very little effort.. Big Dave is scary powerful ,, If he breaks off it could easily be fatal if it hits someone.. Thats what it takes to span the canal..
