He's a kicker and can be replaced. The pats probably knew that he was looking for the money and that some other team would have been willing to add a couple hundred thousand to whatever they offered so they didn't bother. Plus, he's getting older, not younger. They probably saw some other issues with his game that we don't see also.
Givens is a number 2 receiver who got number 1 receiver money, what where the pats supposed to do. If they had given givens that kind of money, what would they have to give branch next year.
