I ran my GPS, Cabin lights, Nav lights and occasionally other accessories off one deep cycle battery in my sailboat last summer and didn't have to charge it until the fall. Its even easier if you're trailering all summer. Putting a alternator on that motor would be ALLOT of money for a motor that isn't worth that much to begin with. My 2c
