I wouldn't worry about the weight. One, S-glass is an ounce or two lighter than standard glass to start with, and two, you're losing the heaviest part of the blank after it's cut.

The 121 3M at full length has more stopping power than a 136 cut back from the butt, but you can't get the 121 in S-glass. It's a very slight advantage, however. Both of them will turn a fish faster than any graphite--or, at least any graphite you'd want to use for snakes.
