Well, given that there's little substance behind that statement I'll give you something else to chew on...
In 1990 the Oil and Gas industry's campaign contributions were about 62% to Republicans and 39% to Democrats.
That held until the GOP took congress when is slipped to about 75% to Republicans and 25% to Democrats.
Ever since Bush has held office it's been at about 80% to 20%.
This year it's sliding ever further to the GOP at about 84% to 16%.
