In Taiwan, we only use telescopic rod for fishing and there are high end in our standard. In this country, 2 piece sticks are common and for a surf rod above five feet a piece is really inconvenient for a jetty and rock region fishman like me. For mobility, I consider telescopic surf rod right now. However, I can not locate any good quality telescopic surf rod here so far---I did found very decent one from UK (150 pounds) and Japan and Taiwan but not here at all but either they don't do reatailor business or their price is too expensive.
Indeed, I have searched the telescopic fishing rod here and found that the quality is extremely poor. And that is the reason I rasise this topic for disscussions (It is like to propose a green egg and ham from that Sam I am--Dr. Suseus).
