Great read:

I think the color of pink and orange worked so well is because they have a longer wave length of light and after a distance 10 ft or so in the water appear to be gray. As the fish moves in for a closer look the reds, pinks, oranges seem to trigger a preditorial response. We know that red is an aggression trigger maybe the others as well.
