There are a lot of NASCAR fans in Canada, and given the proximity of the border crossing, the speedway in Michigan usually has a lot of Canadians in the stands.
It's become a tradition at the Michigan Speedway to honor these Canadian fans with their National Anthem...sort of a "thanks for bothering to stop on by and support our sport" kind of gesture.
I know, the notion of recognizing another nation in a sort of "we're all in it together" sort of way is pretty damn liberal...but if I were you I'd be more afraid of the Scientologists trying to corrupt your sport
