Mako's are great boats. I have a 215 with a honda 150 on it. It is slow as balls but its also a tank. This boat really takes the rough stuff well.

IMO go with more power. You'll get a longer life out of the motor if you aren't working it so hard during its life. I just learned the hard way and I'd do anything to change my 150 for a 225 (except pay for it)
