Changing airflow by changing the way it gets to the intake does change performace. Like high RPM engines liking straight stacks and low grunters like long curving tubes. But the Volcano might be crap. If you want to add 10-15% fuel economy, get a scan guage (scanguage.com) so you can read your instantaneous fuel economy and adjust the way you hammer the pedal. I bought one last year for $120 and it has certainly paid for itself...
