Brooksie - never tighten up the drag, if you have good line you can simulate that by cupping the spool with your palm and get the same effect, release you hand and your back to the easier drag. I know, I've been there and I've done it and it's why a too tight drag has cost me at least one fish from shore that could have gone 50 pounds or better
