i use the lami gsb1201m. i wrapped it as a conventional. i match it either with an abu 6500mag non-levelwind or a 145 squidder. both are spooled up with 30# mono. i wouldn't even consider using a spinning set up for eeling. the feel that i need is not acheivable with a spinner. i also prefer the non-levelwind as i can feel everything the eel does. the above blank is a bit pricy, but i am extremely happy with it so far. it is NOT a schoolie rod! i'll put its strength this way: the first fish i caught on it was mid tide at quonny b'way on an eel. the fish weighed just under 25#'s, and i surfed him in......

..... can't wait to truly test the power of this rod.
