Im nost sure if this is the same thing you are talking about, but a few years ago, one night while fishing an outflow, lots of fish around and one of my best nights ever. Every hit was like..bump, bump, bump, bump, bump, very fast. I would pause set hook anf be on. It was very bizarre.
