Joe, DON"T watse your time and money putting whiplash on that Penn reel, it will experience all kinds of line twist and make you mental. For a reel to handle braid well, it has to have a decent size line roller and the 704 has next to nothing for a roller and it would have to spin very freely also. Stick with mono on the Penn.
If you want to try braid, I would have to say the best all around non-mono line to start off with would be Fireline. I started using it 8 or 9 years ago and I still use it on the beach ( 14 lb.) Once you get accustomed to braid you may want to give the whiplash a try, one thing to remember is use lurers that will give enough tension to put the line back on the reel with enough tension so you don't get any of those wind knots which are nothing more than the line being so twisted that it gets to a point where it just goes Kaflooie.
Fireline is something called MycroDyneema but has no stretch like braid. It is a bit thicker than whiplash.
