first off, very nice fish tony. i also want to thank mikecc for the use of his place for the BBQ.
gee, where to begin? well the outer cape produced no fish for me, but i did see a couple of 40" fish caught. (just drive a stake thru my heart) Being the first time i have ever fished the cape beaches, guess you could say i was given the tour. JohnR, baZZa, specialist, and i started at coast guard beach1 in eastham as the tide was falling. really nice beach with some pretty good surf, maybe 4-5'. we fished plugs and eels with no luck. we decided to move when the tide was pretty much bottomed out. we met up with ChrisL at the head of the meadow and the wind there was blowing pretty good and straight in our faces it would have been difficult to get anything more than 10-15 yards off the shore. so next stop was race point. wind was still blowing pretty good, 20-25 easterly with about the same size surf as before. we fished here and there for a bit and pretty much worked our way down the beach all the way around the tip without any luck. we ended up heading back towards home around 3am with no fish.
of course when i finally got home i took a quick cruise down to the beach and it was almost flat a$$ calm. I still have to say seeing all the "spots" last night was worth the ride and the time spent getting there, it would have been alot sweeter if i had hooked up with a couple of fish, but i guess thats why they call it fishing right!!
