Sinking plugs (What wood)

I wanted to make some sinking plugs. Wanted to have them sink slow & weigh in at around 2.0 oz. What wood would you suggest using. They would be around 6-7 inches. I was planning on using Western Pine. But after more research I was thinking I was going to have to add too much weight for it to sink.

Any suggestions?

Standing on the water, casting your bread
While the eyes of the idol with the iron head are glowing
Distant ships sailing into the mist
You were born with a snake in both of your fists while a hurricane was blowing
