I cannot believe I am about to defend Idol but there are
FAR worse examples of mindless entertainment on the tube, the radio and the net. Look at all the You-Tube junk that is posted on this very site. Most of it mindless and stupid- but entertaining none-the-less. Sometimes Idol can produce what turns out to be real entertainment and discover talent. Not only is Kelly Clarkson HOT
but she
can sing (although she loses points cuz she does not write her own songs).
Back to my original point, I would rather sit with my family on a cold January night and watch people make fools of themselves trying to sing and act than seperate myself from them to avoid it. The
real downfall of American Society comes from lack of interaction between people, not from TV, internet, etc....
