that the wife wasn't killed was because of built in instinct with the mountain lion refusing to let go of its prey....her husbands head.
it could of easily ripped open the mans throat and then grabbed the womans head instead and killed her too.

i used to fish this very private mountain pond out in calif. and i'd throw shiner or the white bass... (thinning them out)
on to the bank...for coons and coyotes..
one day a bobcat came out....of the brush and i watched it attempt to fish with a curled front paw with its claw extended..then it proceeded to sit down and watch me fish.... and do all the work.
so i left her/him a huge pile of fish...
