StarsnStripers and Sniper, grasshoppers - you must learn to walk before you run.
It's obvious that you are enthusiastic about fishing for bass & blues but it would be unwise to try to digest everything available, all the time, about fishing for bass. You can't and shouldn't because you'll miss a lot of discovery along the way... There is a lot to learn and nobody knows it all. But before you can carve your own little niche, you need to try a few different ways, over time.
$15 for a SPECIALLY DESIGNED HIGH QUALITY plug is not expensive. Yeh it hurts if you lose it on a fish or snaged on a rock but that's a fact of life, Necessary evil, whatever you want to call it.
Also, these big plugs take some more specific gear and locations to work. You're less likely to use this on the south side of Conimicut point and more likely on a rip that forms off some ledge where the Bay Meets the Ocean.
All I'm saying is keep your eyes, ears, AND mind a little more open, that's all. There is a lot of experience on the boards, some on top and some you need to dig at a little. Some warm and some brash, but it's there. Watch and listen...
... and guys, give the kid a little break, he's still young & innocent
