if you really want a 9' rod for eels, go glass (I have an all-star e-glass that I love for eels) or lami 1081m (i'd say moderate, not moderate fast - great all around rod - perfect for sluggos)

if you want something more for plugs that will throw eels, I'd look at the all star 1087 (i think batson is making the all star 1087 now, not sure what they call it but its different than the SW or SU series - very light rod)

have you looked at the 1-3 oz, 9 ft loomis? I don't know much about it but people seam to like it and you know you like the 1266.
