The 235 which is bout the same size as a squidder is easier to handle for some reason.I can't explain it.It's lighter.perhaps thats it.The faster retrieve seems to keep the line neater on the spool.plus comes in handy when a fish runs in towards ya an there's a rock in the way.
Don't be a scared of the no level wind feature.paying the line on with ur thumb will become second nature in no time.Plus it is a great advantage on feel.I do this thing when jigging where i impart this subtle action with my thumb.Killa..On the distance casting thing I think u could hop up a squidder to cast just as far.As a novice bait caster u probably would want to forgo that.Just set um up so's u don't birdsnest as easy. Then work it from there.A 7000 abu is not a bad reel either. probably a little less than the Newell. It's a little larger than the 235.Probably around the same line capacity. It's can be set up so no professional over-runs occur. So in that sense it can be considered more user friendly.

FORE!
It's usually darkest just before it turns Black..
