Thumbs up Program Tonight: See a Spout, Watch Out

The Izaak Walton Fishing Association will present a program, detailed below, on Tuesday February 20, 2007
at the Whipple Senior Center located at 182 Green Street, North Weymouth, MA at 7:30PM.
The program is free and open to the public.
Refreshments will be available and we will also hold a raffle.

The “See a Spout, Watch Out!” presentation is a short, informative outreach talk for recreational boaters concerning safe boating practices around whales.
Presenters will include representatives from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) the Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society(WDCS) and Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary (SBNMS).
In this presentation we will address a range of topics from the federal laws and guidelines in place to protect whales
(Allison Rosner, NMFS), easy ways to put the guidelines into practice and continue operations without jeopardizing these protected
species (Regina Asmutis-Silvia, WDCS), and examples of current management and research efforts which will help us to protect
large whales in the future (Anne Smrcina, SBNMS).

If you have any questions please call Herb Silverman at 781-828-4191, or John Wilson at 781-545-3870.
If you have any questions please bring them along to present to our speakers.
