I am almost strictly a chunker.
I use tru-turn saltwater hooks for bait, they have a long shaft and are easier to remove from fish. A quick set usually avoids
gut hooking. I vary between 5/0 to 7/0. Just a suggestion.

Octopus for live bait are my favorite.
