Mold release is silicone, I have a can of it in my shed for stuff that really needs to be slick. Been keeping my AC compressor alive with it for 2 years. Silicone is a double edged sword. Use it on the wrong plastic and that plastic will disintergrate. Read dashboards here. But if you need to yank a cat through a keyhole, silicone is your stuff. Of course now you know it ain't paint friendly...Makes paint afraid of the surface. We used to use a product called Poly-Cracker 20 years ago. It would remove it if you let it sit long enough. Would also stain lacquer. Had sodium hydroxide in it. The recent water fiasco in Spencer brought that to mind.
