Get your walking shoes ready---The closures/hatchings have begun

To all interested,

Sandy Neck closed last night completely due to a hatched nest near the access trail.

The first of what will be many Race Point closures also began in recent days. The alternative access plan is just not even close to enough.

Predictions by beach managers are that Nauset will experience serious if not complete closures due to hatching nests by mid June.

In the end, all of the efforts we as citizens of MA to sacrifice access and bring the threatened Piping Plover numbers back are turning out to be for not. Each time the numbers of Plovers approach a goal, the goal is changed, adjusted or more clearly "defined".

Common sense alternatives are frequently denied or never considered as Beach Managers are threatened by extreme environmentalists that really want us off the beach.

This Wednesday nbioght is the final MBBA BOD meeting before the Summer. IF you are a member and want to find out how to support MBBA actions, come on down. More info can be found on www.MBBA.net.

If you are a member of another club, please make sure your club is communicating with MBBA in order to ensure that the whole recreational fishing community is being heard by our state and federal officials.

It will be rough summer and will be even rougher if we do not stand together and demand coexistance with the birds.
