FYI....Nauset is open again. though there was a short closure this morning it appears that a washover at Pochet and a "controlled burn" may have contributed to the closure. Unfortunately, the communication at the gate was apparently poor as to the reason for the closure.
If these geroups are only trying to save this species then....Why do they refuse to count birds reported in places such as dredge islands and other locations that the public does not access?
Why do they refuse to let the public clean areas known to be good bird habitat and force birds into conflict areas with humans? Why does the Piping Plover Recovery Plan lack flexability for the biologists to adjust due to changing weather and nesting data? Tjhe questions are endless and the answeres seem clear once on is truely informed and not just reading short bits of info.
Coexistance is clearly possible but the extreme enviros will not be a part of anything that will end the machine that drives the educational, job crating, budget eating industry surrounding these birds.
