I would like to clarify a few points here about what is happening today and what happened to the valdez. From what I have read (keeping in mind that not only is the press not always accurate, but sometimes WRONG) the PRESTIGE only holds 20 million gallons of cargo. The Valdez could hold 53 million. The valdez lost about 1/5 of her cargo - about ten million gal. The prestige has only lost about 1 million gallons thus far. Now if every tank bursts and every last drop of oil flows from her, the Prestige will spill about twice as much as what the Valdez spilled. Now I know these seem like nit picky points, but I agree with you MtnBrz1 that the press has to a better job of reporting real news. They also have to do a better job of getting the facts straight. Considering the shipping company, the classification society of the prestige, the owners, and port state control are still conducting investigations, it amazing to me that the press can draw so many conclusions and comparisons. It do believe this has the potential of becoming a disaster and for that feel bad.
Just my 2 cents.
