I've had the most luck fishing them like a jerk bait, just a little twitch and let it drop then repeat. Hits always come on the drop, that wedge shaped head gives the tail a nice little side-to-side wiggle as it drops, fish can't resist. I'll have to give the slow steady retrieve a try though seeing how it's working for some.
