I don't like using cp but sometimes you can get a surprise. I once wrapped an Arra rod with nylon red thread and no CP. When I epoxied it , the red went purple like the blank under it! Fortunately I had only done the taper at the end of the cork tape so it wasn't much work to take it off and do it over with CP.
