I've had great success with the wobble head and plastics with fish up to 35#. In all fairness I haven't used it much from shore but my favorite way to use it is to troll it at a steady speed behind the yak. I feel pairing it up with a hogy or a 10" fishstix is vastly superior to a sluggo. These plastics tend to "obey" the natural motion that the wobble head imparts while the sluggo just doesn't have that same serpentine movement. If forced to choose I would go with the fishstix. A 10" black fishstix matched with the large wobble has accounted for alot of good fish for me at night. Match these 2 up, take it to a beach and just reel it in at a speed that gives you that serpentine "eellike" action. After a few casts you will know the exact speed you need to match if you take it with you at night in the surf. The action is really unreal and a must-see. The only problem, like most plastics in RI waters, is that once the toothy critters show up it gets expensive to use this setup.
