I didnt see the huntin show you talked about but have seen enough. Many times the hunts are on ranches, especially when it comes to whitetail or boar. Some are open, some are fenced in. The deer are raised to be killed. QDM quality deer management.
Im proud of the 2 110 pound 8 points i have taken with my bow(i know they are small but they are my trophys), and was embarrased when i came back from a huntin trip and went to an aquaintances house to see the biggest deer in my life hanging in the garage. A real 8 point that dressed at more than 200 lbs without its head. His wife shot it at the local "game preserve". Who knew they had alberta deer in michigan. It only cost her 8500 bucks. She bragged and her husband couldnt have been more proud as they recapped the story. She gets to the ranch, takes 2 test shots with a 30/30. They get in the golf cart and the deer start coming out to see whats for dinner. She sees a nice one, the owner tells her the price. She shoots, 20 yard shot. Im happy that they gave me and my buddy the deer. Tasted very good for a deer that big. Gotta love a deer thats fed better than most cows we eat.
Im sure the story of that buck has now changed to include the deepest swamp in michigan in a blinding snow storm and finally getting the legend of the great swamp after 5 seasons on its trail and countless missed shots.
That kind of hunting isnt for me. However, people have the right to so it. If it makes em happy and feel good, so be it.
