Talk to the building inspector. He usually makes all the calls on that. You will need him to ok it on paper for your insurance company. He should have permits and clearances for your towns requirements. Some towns are even very strict on what kind of stove you can put in as far as pollution released. A lot has to do with the kind of stove as far as how close you can be to combustible surfaces. Wait till you price the chimney.$$$$
