I certainly don't try to run lights. On more than one occasion I've looked it the rear view mirror after stopping on a yellow and seen the driver behind me flailing away. If I would have gone through a yellow they obviously would have gone through a red. When put in the situation of not being able to stop I usually tap the brakes to at least give the illusion that I tried.
