Not to further confuse you...but if you do go with a spinning reel for a hundred bucks or so, you may want to at least check out the Shimano BaitRunner series.
They came out with the "B" model last year, which now includes infinite anti-reverse as well as the dual drag system.
I used my simple, noisy, "coffee grinder", "bail slamming" Z's for many years. They are certainly workhorses and do have their place (on my wall).
Besides being heavy, IMHO, they are just not 21st century technology.
Duel drags...not just for "bait running"...
