The newer reels have oversized gears that are designed for high retrieves and still have plenty of torque. I also forgot about the new Penn Torque reels. I have a few customers who like them. They were designed to compete with the Trinidad/Torium. All three series of reels also have dogs in the anti-reverse sytem in addition to the one way bearing. I think that is very important, especially with braided line. People tend to use smaller reels because there is plenty of capacity with braid, but they often over power the design limitations of the smaller reels.
