I have to disagree with you guys. What's wrong with asking questions, I think each separate question deserves it's own post, if you don't feel like answering someone, then don't. If this site is going to the dogs then it's because of people who feel they've got their own special club here, if you want a private forum to converse with your buddys then call them on the phone, but don't expect people to not participate in a public online forum because you feel like they don't belong. What's the purpose of a site like this other than to share information with others who enjoy our sport? This guy is obviously just starting out and is looking for some help. If someone was willing to answer him rather than give him crap for posting too much he probably wouldn't have to post so much.
44mike44, it would help to know what size lures you're looking to throw. With a 7000c3 I would suggest 50 or 65# braid and a rod rated for somewhere in the 2-8 oz. area, it's on the heavier end of a surfcasting setup for me, something I would use in the canal or in big surf. I have a similar setup on a Penn Pro Guide Surf rod that's 10' rated for 2-8, it's a 60/40 two-piece (longer half has all the guides on it), which is great if you live in an apartment, like me. It's a well made rod with good guides and can be bought for under a hundred bucks. I would also recommend the Tica Dolphin (UGSA) line of rods, I have a spinner that's rated 1/2-3 that I love for light tackle stuff, but they've just started making conventional rods and they will offer something to fit your bill as well, also two-piece rods but 50/50 split. Let me know what type of area you think you'll be fishing and I can offer you some more precise advice. I'm certainly no expert, but I will help the best I can. Welcome to the site!
