While there are many anglers who prefer its ease and its quickness,
i'll never use the uni to uni again as it ~among other things~ cost me a monstah last year.
It could've been the leader material, 40# Vanish flouro, tied to 20# PLine???
It could've been user error, but i tied it twice as i didn't like the first knot. I'm anal about "perfect" knots.
more than a couple of the area's sharpies i've spoken to share my sentiments when it comes to the uni to uni.
imho, use whichever knot you can tie well, quickly, and *blindfolded*. practice, practice, PRATICE!! Also, use whichever knot gives you the most confidence and never be unwilling to STRIP spool line often or waste stressed leader material. The cost of fresh line/leader is infinitely less than the LOSS of a priceless Trophy!!

mono to braid ~~Crazy Al's Albright
mono to mono ~~Albright Special
braid/mono to swivel ~~Palomar or Improved Clinch
leader to plug ~~End Loop, Perfection Loop
leader to jig/swim shad ~~Uni, Improved Clinch/Uni, Perfection Loop
leader to bait hook ~~Snell

Not a fan of the glue technique, as
i prefer one less thing to do on the rocks.
Lastly, here's an excellent animated source of
instruction for knot tying and miscellaneous rigging:

hope this helps, gents
