They are known to climb downspouts and even get to the roof by climbing the inside of the downspots. Croak all inside and get a pellet gun and plug em in the yard. The buggers are active all winter - even tunneling under the snow. Bird feeders are an attractant also. I use mine for killing fields. The "sign of spring" is a lot of bull. They are active year round - the reason you see them in the early spring is because they are looking to mate. I have a small greenhouse and they love that heat.
